Overseer Virginia Ann Shaw
Overseer Virginia Ann Shaw, the oldest of four children, George, Robert, and William, was born to William Ed and the Late Lens Blackstock on April 12, 1943, in Cascade, Virginia. She attended Lincoln Elementary School. The Blackstock Family attended Bold Spring Baptist Church until she was 12 years old and later joined Evangelical Holiness Church. At the age of 13, she received the Holy Ghost. She was an active participant in the church. Singer, pianist, drummer, and devotional leader.
She attended Booker T.Washington High School. While in high school, she met and became engaged to Robert L.Shaw of Newark, New Jersey. Upon completion of her high school education, they married on June 14, 1962. Soon after they were married, they moved back to Newark, New Jersey. She joined the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ Jesus #1, where her mother-in-law, the Late Pastor Katie B.Shaw, was pastor and founder. She was the financial secretary and choir director. She had her first child, James Edwin Shaw, on May 17, 1963. While carrying her second child, Robert Shaw, Jr.(September 12, 1965). She was called to the ministry and preached her trial sermon. Her text was “Stand Still, and See the Salvation of the Lord.”
In 1969, she became an active parent and was hired as a food service worker of the Newark Pre School Head Start Program. After a few years of dedicated service, she was promoted to teacher’s assistant. In 1963, she had her third child, Shawn Shaw (1973) and in 1975 she had her fourth child, Deirdre Shaw, now known as Mrs.Deirdre Brown. In early 1975, her mother-in-law, Pastor Katie Shaw, became terminally ill and asked Virginia Ann Shaw, to become the Pastor of Shiloh Temple Church. She became Pastor of Shiloh Temple Independent Church of God in Christ Jesus in August of 1975, after the death of Pastor and Founder, Katie B. Shaw.
In July 2021, she was elevated to the office of an Overseer. Elder Virginia A. Shaw is a devoted Pastor to her Church, family and community as a whole. She is a strong believer in furthering your education. She says "You are never too old to learn". Overseer Shaw has attended Essex County College, graduated with an Associates Degree where she majored in Early Childhood Education in the Summer of 1986. In January of 1995, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Jersey City State College and Majored in Sociology and Minor in Early Childhood Education. She obtained her Master of Arts Degree in the Spring of 2002 from Kean University. She also received a degree from the bible college at Christian Pentecostal Church of Irvington, NJ.
Elder James Shaw
Elder James Shaw, the oldest of four children, Robert Jr., Shawn, and Minister Deirdre, was born to Pastor Virginia A.Shaw and Robert Shaw Sr on May 17, 1963, in Newark, NJ. He attended McKinley Elementary School. His family was members of the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ in Jesus.At the age of 10, he received the Holy Ghost.He has always been an active participant in the church. Singer, guitarist, pianist, and choir director.
He attended Arts High School in Newark NJ. Upon completion of his high school education, he attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology and studied Architectural and Structural Engineering. In service to the church, he served as a deacon for over 10 years and then was called to the ministry to preach the gospel. After serving over 15 years as a minister, he was elevated to the office of an Elder.
He servers as the Pastor of Shiloh Temple Church of Godin Christ Jesus. Elder James Shaw is dedicated to his Church, family, Preaching & Teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ, his profession as a Business Consultant and Licensed Insurance Producer. He is an entrepreneur and currently is the owner of Innovative PC-Techs and Innovative Auto Sales. He is the loving husband of First Lady Denise Shaw and 5 children and 4 grandchildren.
